Creative Learning launched a campaign to collect funds to help the victims of Hurricane Katrina. A generous pledge was made to match the first $5,000 collected. Creative Learning channeled the donations to the Katrina Open Arms Fund. The Community Foundation for the National Capital Region established this Fund to support the children and families affected by Hurricane Katrina who are evacuating to the metropolitan Washington community. The fund supported the needs of individuals and families while they reside in our community. Contributions to the fund were granted to nonprofit organizations providing assistance through housing, medical care, food, clothing, mental health counseling, financial planning and child care, among other needs.
